COLUMBUS, GA. – The 18th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team recorded its fourth straight win on Tuesday with a 6-1 victory over the University of Montevallo at the Walden Tennis Center.
Columbus State is now 10-4 overall, while the Falcons fall to 5-6 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo took control early with a point in doubles play, winning on courts one and three, while CSU's No. 2 duo of senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek won 6-1 for their fifth consecutive doubles victory and 12th of the season.
- The Cougars swept singles play, as senior (27) Nikoline Gullacksen was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at No. 1 and junior Monika Temkova also won via a 6-4, 6-1 score in the second flight.
- Freshman Claudia De Lucas turned in a dominant performance at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-2 win, and junior Maria Marksov was nearly perfect in a 6-0, 6-1 win in the sixth flight.
- Redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti was a 6-3, 6-2 winner on court five, while Ek went the distance in a 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 win in the No. 5 matchup.
