COLUMBUS - The No. 2 Columbus State women's soccer team got back on track Sunday afternoon posting a 4-0 victory over Florida Tech in the final game of the Peach Belt Conference/Sunshine State Conference Invitational.  Stephanie Parrish became CSU's all-time leader in points as she scored the third goal of the contest, giving her 111 career points.  Parrish is second on the career goals list with 46, two behind Gina Goforth and fourth in career assists with 19.  

After being held scoreless for the first time in since November 3, 2009, the Lady Cougars wasted no time getting on the board.  Leslie Mathews nearly got on the board 2 ½ minutes into the contest but a great save by Mist Eliasdottir kept her off the score sheet.  Less than six minutes later Mathews got the best of Eliasdottir this time scoring her first goal of the season.  The Stone Mountain native received a ball from Stephanie Lowery in the box and beat her defender for inside position, bending a ball inside the far right post for a 1-0 lead.  Mathews almost had a second goal as she beat her defender in the box again, but her shot hit the post.

Emily Husted capped off the scoring in the first half with her fourth goal of the year.  A free kick was served around the box where Ashley Miller was able to flick it on to Husted who ran onto the ball.  The sophomore headed it past the goalkeeper who came off her line and the ball rolled into the open net giving the hosts a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Parrish's milestone goal came in the 52 minute off a nice feed from Lowery who led the senior into the penalty box.  Emma Ahlstrand came off her line trying to corral the pass Lowery hit to Parrish but was unable to get there in time.  Parrish dribbled once to her right and hooked the ball into the net for her fourth goal of the year.

Late in the half, Willi Babillis picked up a loose ball in the box and sent a booming punt that Jackie Ellis flicked on to a streaking Melinda Bush.  The speedy senior out-raced the defense to set up a one-on-one matchup with Ahlstrand and slid it past the goalkeeper.  It was Bush's third goal of the year.

Mary Mancin picked up her seventh win of the year making two saves playing the first 45 minutes of the contest.  Babillis preserved the shutout in the second half.  Eliasdottir and Ahlstrand each split 45 minutes in goal also, giving up a pair of goals apiece.  Eliasdottir had three saves in the losing effort, dropping her record to 5-4. 

Columbus State improves to 8-0-1 on the season while Florida Tech drops to 5-4 on the year.  The Lady Cougars have the top ranked defense in the nation, boasting a 0.11 goals against average.  Mancin is also the Division II leader in goals against average and save percentage, as she is yet to allow a goal this season.  CSU has outscored their opponents 30-1 so far this season.

CSU returns to the pitch Wednesday night when it holds its annual "Kicks for the Cure" game versus Georgia Southwestern in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.  Both teams will be wearing special jerseys for the contest, supporting the fight against breast cancer.  Donations will be collected throughout the match and there will be no admission charge.  A special presentation will be made at halftime of the contest.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex.
