Lady Cougars Set for Young Harris

COLUMBUS – Aiming for its fourth consecutive win, the sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team travels to Young Harris on Wednesday for a showdown against the Mountain Lions.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
 
Last Time Out
 
Columbus State (9-2-0, 5-1-0 PBC) was slow out of the gates, but finished strong in an 11-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern. Hugrun Elvarsdottir and Ali Cook each tallied six points on the day with two goals and two assists for both.

"Young Harris is a team on the rise. They have a new coach and she has done a great job in her first season. We need to carry over the momentum we have built into this very tough match."
 
Series History
 
Columbus State and Young Harris have met four times since the Mountain Lions moved to NCAA Division II, with CSU taking all four matchups. The Lady Cougars have outscored YHC 16-3 in the four wins.
 
Last Meeting
 
The Lady Cougars held just a 2-0 lead at halftime, but quickly added three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to pull away in a 6-0 victory. Olivia Jarrell netted a pair of goals for CSU, which outshot Young Harris 29-4.
 
About Young Harris
 
Young Harris (4-1-3, 3-1-1) has lost just one match this season, dropping a 2-1 match to North Georgia two weeks ago.
 
The Mountain Lions' three wins in PBC play has already matched the program's highest total in conference action since joining the league in 2012.
 
Wednesday will be the first match for Young Harris in 11 days after having last Saturday's match at Francis Marion postponed because of weather. The Mountain Lions last played on October 1, a 3-0 victory over USC Aiken.
 
Senior Amber Matthews leads YHC with four goals on the season. Young Harris averages 2.0 goals per match.
 
CSU Notes
 
The Lady Cougars set a new program record on Saturday with 50 shots against Georgia Southwestern, breaking the previous mark of 44 set in 2015.
 
The 11 goals scored matched the second-highest output in program history, one short of the record.
 
Columbus State currently ranks as the second-highest scoring offense in the country, averaging 4.18 goals per match.
 
Seventeen different Lady Cougars have scored at least one goal this season, the highest total of any team in Division II.
