GREENWOOD, S.C. – The eighth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Saturday defeating Lander 8-1. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at Joe Cabri Tennis Center in Greenwood, S.C.
 
The Lady Cougars are now 4-1 this season and a perfect 2-0 inside the PBC. Lander is now 2-2 and 0-2 in conference play.
 
CSU wasted no time in taking full control of the match sweeping doubles play. At the top spot, the 11^th-ranked duo of Kirsa Utech and Camila Tobar blew by Maggie Elliot and Ivanka Mocic 8-2. Beatriz Leon and Giorgia Vitale had no problem at second doubles dropping just one game to Caroline Yodice and Lauren French in their 8-1 victory. Rachael Williams and Olivera Tadijin made it a clean sweep as they took down Yuriko Ono and Renata Mello 8-3 at third doubles.
 
Columbus State won five of the six singles matches to cruise to the victory. Fourteenth-ranked Leon got it started for the Lady Cougars at the top spot defeating Ono 6-0, 6-3. Tobar was victorious at the second position taking down Mocic 6-1, 6-1. At fourth doubles, 50^th-ranked Utech turned in the most dominant performance of the day blanking Yodice 6-0, 6-0.
 
The Lady Cougars recorded victories at both fifth and sixth singles to cap off the day. Tadijin won 6-3, 6-2 against Mello at the fifth spot while Williams was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over French at the six position.
 
Lander's only win on the day came at third singles where Anni Poikola won a tight three-set match over Pannu. Poikola took the first set 6-1 before Pannu rallied for a 7-6 win in the second set. In the deciding set, Poikola outlasted Pannu 11-9 for the victory.
 
Columbus State will be back in action Sunday afternoon taking on USC Aiken at noon. The matches will take place in Aiken, S.C.
