COLUMBUS – Playing its first match in over a week and a half, the eighth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team showed no signs of rust in a 9-0 sweep of Montevallo. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Mary V. Blackmon Tennis Center in Columbus.

With the win, the Lady Cougars are now 12-3 and a perfect 7-0 inside PBC play. Montevallo is now 8-5 and 1-5 in conference action.

CSU got off to the quick start by taking all three doubles matches to jump in front 3-0. At the top spot, the 10^th-ranked duo of Camila Tobar and Kirsa Utech flew by Allison Howell and Emily Beatty 8-2. Teaming up for the first time this season, Olivera Tadijin and Giorgia Vitale recorded a victory at second doubles taking down Rayne Sinclair and Julia Berg 8-3. Saravinder Pannu and Rachael Williams were 8-4 winners at the third spot over Alina Munteanu and Allison Whitley.

Columbus State dominated singles action with the Lady Cougars winning all 12 sets played. Playing her first match as a ranked player, 36^th-ranked Tobar impressed defeating Munteanu 6-1, 6-2 at first singles. Utech played well at the second spot as the junior won 6-2, 6-3 over Beatty. Third and fourth singles were all CSU as Tadijin and Vitale combined to lose just three games. Tadijin won her match 6-1, 6-1 against Berg while Vitale was even more dominant taking down Sinclair 6-1, 6-0.

At fifth singles, Williams defeated Howell 6-2, 7-5 while Pannu won sixth singles 6-4, 6-1 over Lauren Pero.

SCHEDULE NOTE

The Columbus State-Alabama State match scheduled for Saturday, March 26 has been cancelled with no make up date planned. The Lady Cougars will next be in action on Tuesday, March 29 against top-ranked BYU Hawaii. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
