SAVANNAH, Ga. – In a top-10 showdown, the eighth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team fell 5-0 to third-ranked Lynn Friday. The neutral site match took place in Savannah, Ga.

"The girls played well today, but we just couldn't win big points in doubles play," said head coach
Evan Isaacs. "We will get back on track and learn from our mistakes."

All three doubles matches were tight with Lynn grabbing all three victories. Taking on the top-ranked doubles team in the nation,
Beatriz Leon and
Beatriz Lopez fell 8-6 at first doubles.
Camila Tobar and
Giorgia Vitale also fell in a tough 8-6 match at second doubles.
Kirsa Utech and
Olivera Tadijin nearly pulled off a win at third doubles, but fell in an extra game 9-7.

Needing to win just two singles matches to clinch a victory, Lynn grabbed victories at second and fifth singles. Utech lost 6-2, 6-1 at the second spot against the 23
rd ranked player in the nation, while Tadijin dropped her match 6-2, 6-3 versus a ranked foe.

The other four matches were suspended after the Fighting Knights clinched the match.

Columbus State will be back in action on Sunday kicking off Peach Belt Conference play against 42
nd-ranked Augusta on the road. The match will begin at 10 a.m.
