COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University women's tennis team put together a strong weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional championships, culminating in a doubles championship on Monday. The tournament was played at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C., with the doubles championship taking place at the John W. Walden Tennis Center in Columbus.
 
Beatriz Lopez and Marleen Tilgner captured the Southeast Region doubles title to punch their ticket into the ITA Oracle Cup Oct. 11-14 in Rome, Ga.
 
Lopez and Tilgner rolled right through four matches before a showdown with teammates Noa Davico and Luise Sachs on Monday.
 
In singles action, Sachs made the deepest run, winning five consecutive matches. The sophomore was defeated in the final however, keeping the Lady Cougars from a sweep of the titles.
 
Noa Davico, Beatriz Lopez and Marleen Tilgner all made it to the quarterfinals for the Lady Cougars, who had half of the eight players that reached the quarters.
