COLUMBUS - The 6
th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team continued their dominate stretch snatching their sixth straight 7-0 sweep, this time defeating Lander on Friday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Walden Tennis Center.Â
Columbus State (18-3, 8-0 PBC) has one more conference match remaining, in hopes of capturing another Peach Belt Conference regular season championship and undefeated conference season.Â
The Lady Cougars cruised through their two doubles matches, with Lander not having enough players for a third doubles.Â
Marleen Tilgner and Luise Sachs notched the 6-3 win at first doubles with Beatriz Lopez and Noa Davico blanking their opponents on second doubles 6-0 to give CSU the doubles point.Â
The Lady Cougars continued to step their game up entering singles play as they only gave up eight total games to the Bearcats on the five courts in play.Â
32nd-ranked Tilgner battled 68th-ranked Eduarda Ferreira and blasted her way to a 6-2, 6-0 straight set win.Â
Lopez followed up one court over at second with a 6-0, 6-1 win while Candice Paya also only gave up one game, winning 6-1, 6-0.Â
At fourth singles it was 63rd-ranked Sachs coming out victorious 6-2, 6-1 with Natalia Kattah Paz getting the point at fifth winning 6-1, 6-0.Â
With the short-handed Bearcats, no match was played at sixth singles giving CSU the other point.Â
Columbus State will play their final conference match on Saturday, April 13. The match is set to start at 11:00 a.m. at the Walden Tennis Center.
