FLORENCE, S.C. - The fourth-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team grabbed their third-straight Peach Belt Conference championship defeating 10th-ranked North Georgia 4-1. The Peach Belt Conference tournament took place at Francis Marion.

Columbus State (22-4) secured the PBC Tournament title, sweeping both the regular season and now tournament titles for the third consecutive season. The Lady Cougars picked up their ninth ranked win this season.

CSU dropped the doubles match at the top spot as Marleen Tilgner and Luise Sachs fell 2-6. But the other two courts for Columbus State came through in a big way helping them to the doubles point.

The duo of Beatriz Lopez and Clara Audap teamed up for a 6-2 win while All-Conference doubles Natalia Kattah Paz and Candice Paya locked down a 6-2 victory at third. The two wins gave Columbus State the doubles point heading into singles play.

In singles, Paya cruised her way to a 6-2, 6-0 win at third singles to lock down a point for CSU. One court over it was Sachs who finished her match with the exact same scoreline, dominating her counterpart to notch another Lady Cougar point.

After winning her doubles match, Audap kept things rolling in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win over Lexa Loden helping CSU to take the match.

North Georgia picked up one point due to retirement from Tilgner, who was up 4-3 at the time before bowing out.

The other two matches went unfinished after the championship was in hand.

38th-ranked Lopez was trailing 2-6, 3-2 at second singles with Paz up 6-1, 3-1 at fifth.

The Nighthawks lost just five times all season, twice at the hands of the Lady Cougars. CSU outscored them by a combined 11-1 in their two wins over UNG.

Columbus State gets the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Southeast Regional which will be played May 13 and 14. The NCAA Tournament field will be revealed during the selection show on May 7.
