YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The 8th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team earned another 7-0 sweep in conference play, this time defeating Young Harris on Sunday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Lady Cougars opened up doubles play with Marleen Tilgner and Luise Sachs at the top spot. The duo didn't allow the Mountain Lions to win a game as they swept their way to a 6-0 scoreline. Over at second doubles it was Noa Davico and Clara Audap who picked up a 6-1 win to give CSU the doubles point.
Young Harris had just four players in the match as Candice Paya and Natalia Kattah Paz didn't get to play anyone at third doubles but still picked up the win.
After winning in doubles, Tilgner took down her singles opponent in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 to grab the point on the top court.
55th-ranked Beatriz Lopez, who sat out doubles, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at second singles to give CSU another point.
Over at third singles 70th-ranked Sachs picked up a dominating 6-1, 6-3 victory while Audap finished things off for the Lady Cougars at fourth singles winning 6-2, 6-0.
With only four players available there were no matches for Davico and Paz over at fifth and sixth singles.
Columbus State will return home to take on Francis Marion on Saturday, April 13. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. at the Walden Tennis Center.
