COLUMBUS - To keep with social distancing measures, the Columbus State University nationally renown cheerleading program will hold tryouts for the 2020-2021 season through video submissions.
Winners of seven national championships and 20 Peach Belt Conference championships, the CSU cheerleading program prides itself on being an honest, respected program filled with integrity. Cougar cheerleaders are students first with the majority of our athletes obtaining their degrees during their time with the program.
Tryouts are open to any full-time students at Columbus State or any current applicant. This includes incoming freshmen and transfers. Current CSU students must be in good standing academically with the University and a minimum GPA of 2.0. Incoming students must be accepted by July 1 to keep your place on the team. Tryout submissions will be open from May 4 until June 1. The full team will be announced on June 1. You must complete the information sheet and submit a video to be eligible. All types of video will be accepted. Please send videos to jimbo@columbusstate.edu.
In the video, you must include the following information:
- Name
- School
- All-Star Gym
- Number of Years Cheering
- Current/Prospective Major
- Position
- Three Interesting Facts About Yourself
Each video will be evaluated on the following:
- Standing & Running Tumbling
- For Females: Toe Touch to Tuck, Standing Back Tuck, Standing Back Handspring Back Tuck, & Running Tumbling Pass
- For Males: Standing Back Tuck. Anything else is a huge bonus
- Motions (a cheer Female Only)
- Three Stunts if available.*
