JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's golf team capped off an impressive showing at the 2021 Jekyll Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday, firing a 3-over 291 to capture the team title.
The Lady Cougars shot a two-round score of 13-over 589 to win the program's first tournament since Oct. 14-15, 2019. It's the fourth tournament championship for the CSU women's golf program since the inaugural season of 2009-10.
CSU shot the best round over both days to win the event by six strokes over No. 15 Carson Newman University (+19, 595).

Beryl Giletti nearly gave Columbus State a title sweep as the freshman finished in second, just three shots back from tournament winner Minji Kang of Truett-McConnell University. Giletti's lone mistakes came on her first and last holes of the day, while she birdied holes 10 and 11 to finish at even-par. Overall, Giletti shot an even-par 144 to grab her third straight top-10 finish to begin her career.
Victoria Libaak and
Ana Thorne made it a trio of Lady Cougars inside the top-five. Libaak was on fire on Tuesday, firing a 3-under 69 thanks to four birdies during the round. The 69 was tied for the lowest score in the tournament as Libaak lowered her overall score to 2-over 146 to finish tied for fourth.
Thorne also finished fourth after carding a 2-over 74 in the final round. The senior made the turn a 1-under before closing out the back nine with a 3-over. Thorne ended the tournament with the second-best par-5 score (-2) over the event.
Madeleine Krueger was the final Lady Cougar to contribute to the team score in round two. The Columbus native lowered her score by three strokes on Tuesday to a 4-over 76. Krueger ended inside the top-25 with an 11-over 155.
Selina Budde wrapped up play in Jekyll Island with her second straight 5-over 77 to finish tied for 22nd. Budde was just one stroke back from 15th with a 10-over 154.
Columbus State will head to St. Augustine, Fla. next week for the Flagler Fall Slam at the Marsh Creek Country Club. The first round is set to begin on Monday, Oct. 25.
