Cougar Soccer to Host NCAA Southeast Regional, Earns Number One Seed

It's the 14th trip to the NCAA Championship for the Cougars.

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 7 Columbus State University women's soccer team was tabbed as the top seed in the 2021 NCAA Southeast Regional and will host the opening two rounds of the NCAA Championships this weekend at the Walden Soccer Complex.

The Cougars will be making the program's 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and the first since 2018. 

Columbus State earned the region's first seed after going 18-2-1 and claiming the Peach Belt Conference regular-season championship. CSU will take on the eighth-seeded University of Mount Olive in the first round on Friday at 6 p.m. UMO received an at-large bid into the tournament after falling to UNC Pembroke in the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship match on Sunday.

Fourth-seeded and No. 18 Flagler College and fifth-seeded UNC Pembroke will also be in Columbus this weekend. The two sides will play in the opening round at 3 p.m. on Friday, with the winner advancing into the second round on Sunday.

In the other half of the Southeast Region, second-seeded and No. 10 Catawba College will be the hosts and take on seventh-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University on Friday. In the 3-6 matchup, third-seeded Queens University will play sixth-seeded University of North Georgia.

Match 1 - 3 PM: #5-seed UNC Pembroke vs. #4-seed Flagler

Match 3 - 1 PM: Match 1 winner vs. Match 2 winner
