Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The No. 11 Columbus State University women's tennis team earned another 7-0 Peach Belt Conference win at Young Harris College Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Cougars closed the regular season with a 13-3 overall record and an 8-0 mark in the PBC.
Columbus State dominated in doubles play. The pair of
Beatriz Lopez and
Candice Paya rocketed past Jing Dong and Julienta Boerr 6-1 in first doubles, improving to 8-2.
Valentina Abrile and
Sara Ramirez Goncalves recorded a 6-3 victory over Rilee Marler and Catarina Marcko Ferreira in second doubles. The duo moved their record to 11-3. At third doubles, the team of
Amanda Citre and
Luise Sachs defeated Fatima Murphy and Zoe Freke 6-3, making them 14-2 on the spring season.
The results were no different in singles play as the Lady Cougars cruised past the Mountain Lions. Lopez competed in first singles and defeated Dong 6-2, 6-0. Sachs beat Boerr 6-2, 6-3 playing in the second spot. Abrile had no trouble getting the win against Freke as she dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Competing in fourth singles, Citre moved past Marcko Ferreira 6-2, 6-1. Goncalves played in the fifth spot for CSU, grabbing a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Leanna Wood.
Agostina Bigotti was placed in sixth singles and crushed Murphy 6-1, 6-0.
Columbus State will compete in the PBC Semi Finals on April 28 in Columbus.
