Morgan Named PBC Defender of the Week

It's the first weekly award for the fifth year Cougar.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - After helping the Columbus State University women's soccer team to a 2-0 start over the weekend, graduate student Parker Morgan was named the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week on Tuesday.

Morgan never left the pitch in the Cougar wins over Embry-Riddle University and Christian Brothers University, playing 180 matches to begin the year.

In CSU's 2-1 win against Embry-Riddle, Morgan got into the scoring column, cleaning up the box following a series of attacks by the Cougars. It was the ninth goal for the two-time All-PBC performer.

On Sunday, Morgan and the backline helped blank CBU 1-0, just two days after the Lady Buccaneers scored three goals in their season-opener.

Morgan and the Cougars will be back in action on Thursday in Salisbury, N.C. to face Catawba College at 7 p.m.

RANKING UPDATE
The Cougars moved up four spots to 16th in the latest United Soccer Coaches top-25 national poll. CSU is the third-highest team from the Southeast Region (Flagler College #1, Lenoir-Rhyne University #11).
