GREENVILLE, S.C. - Rachael Sweigard, Emma Beddow and Carley Canzoneri have been named All-Americans by the Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA). Sweigard and Beddow both earned first-team honors while Canzoneri was named second team.
A graduate student midfielder from South Lyon, Mich., Sweigard earns her first All-America accolade after being named PBC All-Conference for the third time in her career. The 2018 PBC Freshman of the Year, she is tied for the team lead with 19 goals on the season to go with six assists for 44 points with five game-winning goals. She is tied for second in the Peach Belt and tied for ninth in NCAA Division II in goals per game and is eighth in the league in assists and third in points per game. Twice named the PBC Player of the Week in 2022, she led the league in shots and was second in shots on goal.
Emma Beddow was the top points producer on the highest-scoring team in the nation in 2022. The sophomore forward from Savannah, Ga., scored 19 goals with eight assists for 46 points with two game-winning goals on the year. A first-team All-Conference selection for the second time, she is tied for second in the PBC and tied for ninth in NCAA Division II in goals per game and is tied for 10th nationally in points per game.
Carley Canzoneri was named the PBC Defensive Player of the Year and received the NCAA Elite 90 Award for women's soccer. The senior defender from Suwanee, Ga., is a four-time All-Conference selection and the anchor on a defense that led the PBC in fewest goals allowed in 2022. The Cougars gave up only 15 goals in 23 games and are ranked #27 in NCAA DII in goals allowed average. CSU also leads the PBC and is ranked 23rd nationally in shutout percentage with 13 clean sheets this season. Canzoneri played more minutes than any other Cougar this season and added one assist.
Communication professionals from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes filled out the three teams.
