COLUMBUS - Fresh off an impressive three-game sweep, the No. 12 Columbus State University baseball team will play its first game at Burger King Stadium of the new year on Tuesday when in-state rival Albany State University comes in for a visit. First pitch is at 4 p.m. at Ragsdale Field.

COUGAR NOTES
• The Cougars hit .345 as a team over its three-game sweep of the University West Alabama this past weekend. CSU scored 50 runs in the three games, including scoring 20 runs in back-to-back games

Robert Brooks (6-for-12, 2B, 2 HRs, 7 runs) and
Will Wilbanks (5-for-13, 2 2Bs, 2 HRs, 7 runs) did plenty of damage in the lineup, collecting 10 and eight RBIs, respectively.

Derek Wylie (4-for-13) both added home runs over the weekend

• Columbus State holds a .788 winning percentage at Burger King Stadium since the beginning of the 2015 season. In that span, the Cougars are 126-36
• Brooks enters Tuesday with a 16-game hitting streak and a 32-game on-base streak dating back to last season
• The Cougars are looking for their first 4-0 start to a season since 2015
ALBANY STATE NOTES
• Albany State will be playing its first game of the 2022 season on Tuesday. The Golden Rams went 12-7 in 2021, playing only non-conference games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ASU is a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
• Scot Hemmings is in his seventh season at ASU. The Columbus native guided the Golden Rams to the 2018 SIAC regular-season and tournament championships before making a return trip to the tournament championship game in 2019
• Lachlan Ross was selected to the preseason All-SIAC team. The second baseman hit .400 in 19 games last year with nine stolen bases.

• Columbus State and Albany State first met during the 1978 season with the Cougars owning the all-time series
