CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Columbus State University women's golf team saved its best round, shooting a 15-over 303 on Tuesday to finish the Low Tide Intercollegiate hosted by Limestone University tied for fourth. The three-round, two-day event was held at the Dunes West Golf Course.
The Lady Cougars finished with an overall score of 57-over 921 and ended the day where it began on the leaderboard. Limestone won the tournament with a team score of 13-over 877 after firing a 289 on Tuesday, the best round in any of the three rounds.
Victoria Libaak and
Maddy Krueger both grabbed top-20 finishes for the Lady Cougars. Libaak turned in a 3-over 75 over the final round to finish tied for 17th with a 13-over 229. The senior found a birdie on hole 10 during her round.
Krueger was one-shot back from her teammate in a 20th-place tie after shooting a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. The Columbus native had four pars at one point in the round helping her to her 14-over 230.
Selina Budde and
Ana Thorne finished 25th (+16, 232) and 26th (+17, 233), respectively. Budde managed the course with a 5-over 77, while Thorne tied Libaak for the best round of the day for a CSU golfer with a 3-over 75. She jumped seven spots on the board and had 13 pars and a birdie on the day.
Beryl Giletti also competed for Columbus State and finished tied for 40th with an overall score of 23-over 239. She shot a 6-over 78 in round three.
The Lady Cougars wil be back in action on Monday, March 14 at the 2022 Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The two-day tournament will be held at Orange Tree Golf Club, hosted by Rollins College.
