ST. SIMONS, Ga. - It's a banner day for the Columbus State University women's golf team as five players were named to the All-Peach Belt Conference team, with Beryl Giletti being tabbed as the Freshman of the Year and Bianca Lohbauer as the Coach of the Year.

Giletti and Victoria Libaak were All-PBC first-team selections, while Selina Budde, Maddy Krueger and Ana Thorne earned second-team nods. 

The freshman from Houilles, France, Giletti continues to make an instant impact in the CSU lineup. She carries the fifth-best stroke average in the league (77.3) and had four top-10 finishes in nine events during the regular season. Giletti turned in two top-five performances, including leading CSU to a team title at the Argonaut Invitational earlier this month. The freshman fired a 227 over the three rounds to finish in fourth. Giletti also had a runner-up performance at the 2021 Jekyll Island Intercollegiate in October. 

Libaak leads Columbus State in stroke average (76.5) heading into the postseason and collects her fourth All-PBC honor in her prestigious career on Thursday. The senior has three top-10 finishes to her tally so far this season and played a vital role in CSU's team title at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate with a 2-over 146 to grab a fourth-place finish. 

A constant in the lineup, Budde grabs her first All-PBC award after finishing inside the top-10 in stroke average (78.3). The Ulm, Germany native has played in all nine events this season and finished fifth in last season's PBC Championship to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Krueger is now another first-year player for Columbus State that has contributed to the success. The transfer holds a 78.6 stroke average in eight events in 2021-22, including two carding below-par rounds. In her CSU debut, the local product had an eighth-place performance in the Savannah Lakes Invite in September.

Thorne earned her way back to the All-PBC team after a fine regular season in her senior season. She is fifth in the league in stroke average (77.2) entering the PBC Championship to go with two top-10 finishes on her resume. In the CSU's impressive performance at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate, Thorne was tied for fourth on the leaderboard with a 2-over 146. 

In her first season with the program, Lohbauer has guided Columbus State to new heights, as CSU is in the hunt for the program's first NCAA regional berth. The Lady Cougars are ranked 16th in the country in the latest Golfstat rankings and 24th in the Women's Golf Coaches Association poll (WGCA). CSU has the lowest team stroke average (306.3) in the PBC and has six top-five finishes in nine events this season. A former standout herself at Troy University, Lohbauer is just the second CSU women's coach and the third female in conference history to win the Coach of the Year award.

Columbus State is the favorite heading into the 12th PBC Championship, which begins on Friday at the Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons, Ga. The players will take the course for single rounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Lady Cougars will have to snap Flagler College's dominance over the PBC in order to claim the championship. FC has won four straight titles, which is the second-longest current championship-winning streak in the PBC.

The University of North Georgia is another team to watch as the Nighthawks have the PBC Golfer of the Year in their lineup. Madeline Ananthasane, who won the 2021 PBC Championship, leads the conference in stroke average (74.2) and has eight rounds of at least even-par to her record. 

Lander University, Young Harris College and Savannah State University will also be in the field. Savannah State will be competing in its first PBC Championship after joining the conference as an associate member last summer.
