INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 8 Columbus State University baseball team is back in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as the Cougars earned the third seed in the loaded seven-team field.
The NCAA DII Baseball Championship is returning to the super regional format in 2022. The Southeast Region is broken into two double-elimination pods, with the winners advancing into the best-of-three series super regional the following week. The winner will be crowned as the Southeast Region champions and advance to the NCAA DII World Series.
Columbus State (42-11) will travel to Wingate, N.C. to take on sixth-seeded Belmont Abbey (34-17) in the opening round on Thursday, May 19, at 7 p.m. Second-seeded Wingate University will play seventh-seeded Young Harris College in the other opening round game in the Wingate pod on Thursday at 3 p.m.
North Greenville University will host the other site after earning the region's top seed. Fourth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University and fifth-seeded UNC Pembroke square off in the opening round in Tigerville, S.C.
