COLUMBUS - No. 9 Columbus State University will look to secure a spot in the 2022 NCAA DII College Baseball World Series this weekend as the Cougars begin play in the NCAA Southeast Super Regional on Friday.
The Cougars and No. 1 North Greenville University will play a best-of-three series in Tigerville, S.C., this weekend, with the winner advancing to Cary, N.C., for the national championship.

• The Cougars enter play in the super regional with a 45-11 record after going 3-0 in the Southeast Regional in Wingate, N.C., last weekend
• CSU defeated Belmont Abbey College 15-8 in the opening round before taking down No. 5 Wingate University in the semifinals and championship

• Brooks is fourth in the nation in RBIs (83) and ninth in walks (47)
• David Meadows is hitting .412 (14-for-34) in the postseason for the Cougars with five stolen bases. He is also one of four players with 10 or more runs to their ledger
• Head coach Greg Appleton is three wins away from 900 at Columbus State. He has taken the Cougars to four DII College World Series

• Reece Fields holds a 9-2 record in 17 starts this season. He has posted a 3.96 ERA with 83 strikeouts in 84 innings
• Tristen Hudson (5 saves, 1.46 ERA), Noah Takac (55.2 IP, 1.78 ERA) and Brent Herlong (53.1 IP, 2.03 ERA) are dangerous arms in the bullpen
• John Micahel Faile leads NGU in average, homers and RBIs. However, he is injured and hasn't played since May 5
• Five other Crusaders have double-digit homers in 2022, including Marek Chlup with 12. Chlup is hitting .412 with 35 extra-base hits
