COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team is set to travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take on the Warhawks on Feb. 22. This is both teams second midweek game of the season.
Columbus State is on a nine game win streak and is fresh off a conference series sweep of Flagler College. The Cougars have four players inside the top-10 in the PBC for homeruns this season.
Derek Wylie leads the conference with five,
Matthew McDade is in second with four, and
Isaac Bouton and
Trace Twardoski are tied for fifth with two homers a piece.
Ian King is fresh off being named the PBC Player of the Week while he had nine hits last week.
Matthew McDade leads the Cougars in batting average with .341.
CSU is also dominant on the mound as
Noah Windhorst and
Peyton Burton are both inside the top-10 in the PBC in era. Burton is third in the conference with a 0.69 era and Windhorst is in ninth with a 1.89 era. The third pitcher of their starting trio is
Colton Joyner and he has the most strikeouts in the conference with 18.
For the Warhawks, they are 3-9 and they are coming off a Gulf South Conference series win against Christian Brothers University. Kasey Clark leads them in batting average with .372 and in rbi's with eight. Pitching wise, AUM is led by Clay Slagle as he has an era of 1.15 and has nine strikeouts in 15.2 innings.Â
