CSU is 8-2 against Lander since 2020

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team is set to take on the Lander Bearcats in a three game series starting on Friday, Feb. 24. This would be the Cougars first road conference series of the season.

For the Cougars, CSU (9-2, 3-0 PBC) is coming off a midweek road loss at the hands of the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks by a score of 10-7. They will now turn their attention to Lander which they defeated four times last year, two of which were in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. Ian King leads the Cougars in batting average with .351 and has 11 hits in his last five games. Matthew McDade and Derek Wylie lead CSU in the power department as both have five homeruns on the year.

Pitching wise, CSU's weekend rotation is one of the best in the conference and country. Noah Windhorst, Peyton Burton, and Colton Joyner are all top-10 in many different categories. Logan Seehafer has the hot hand out of the bullpen as he's pitched in four of the Cougars last five games. Seehafer has allowed no runs and has struck out seven batters in 4.1 innings this year.

For Lander, LU (3-8, 2-1 PBC) is coming off a loss against the number 12 ranked team in the country, Wingate, by a score of 9-4. Lander defeated the USC Beaufort Sandsharks in their first conference series of the season 2-1. The Bearcats are led by Oliver Zohn who leads them with a .385 batting average and he leads the PBC in hit by pitches with nine. Will McClellan leads them in homeruns with three and RBI's with 10.

Columbus State and Lander will start their series tomorrow, Feb. 24, at Stephen B. Dolny Stadium. First pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
