COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team is set to travel to Pensacola, Fla. for a two game series against the Argonauts on Tuesday, March 21. The Cougars enter with a record of 19-6 (11-4 PBC) while UWF is 13-11 and 5-7 in the Gulf South Conference.
For the Cougars, they are coming off their first series loss of the season and are looking to bounce back.Â
Derek Wylie leads CSU and the PBC with 12 homerun's and 39 rbi's. Wylie is batting .389 and has an ops of 1.338. As a whole, they lead the conference in batting average, homerun's, rbi's, slugging percentage, on base percentage, and fielding percentage.Â
Pitching wise, Columbus State has multiple dominate options out of the pen.
Cole English,
Ryan Suppa, and
Leo Giannoni have three straight appearances allowing no runs and they have struck out a combined 11 batters during that span.
Zack Brockman has been dominate on the mound as of late. In his last 19.1 innings he's allowed three runs and has struck out 16.
For the Argonauts, they are coming off of a conference series win where they defeated Mississippi College in two out of three games. Darrien McDowell leads UWF with a batting average of .374 and he also leads them with five homerun's and 27 rbi's.
Both teams will square off on Tuesday, March 21, at Jim Spooner Field in Pensacola, Fla. at 6 p.m.
