Cougars set to travel to Young Harris for crucial three game series

CSU is 18-8 against the Mountain Lions all-time

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team visit Young Harris College for a three-game PBC series starting on Friday, March 31. CSU enters the series 24-6 and 11-4 inside the Peach Belt. YHC comes in at 22-10 on the season and 12-6 in PBC play. 

For the Cougars, they are coming off a three-game sweep of Eckerd College and CSU is currently on a five-game win streak. Win Johns has 10 hits in his last eight games and he also had two homerun's in the three-game series against Eckerd. Derek Wylie still leads in the PBC with 13 homerun's and 44 RBI's. Columbus State as a team is batting .293 which leads the PBC and they lead the conference with 40 total homerun's.

Pitching wise, Noah Windhorst has eclipsed 50 innings pitched in his career for the second time as he has 52.1 for the season. As a staff, the Cougars have the lowest team ERA at 3.41 and they are the only team in the Peach Belt that has given up less than 100 runs on the season.

For the Mountain Lions, they beat the top team in the conference, USC Aiken, in two out of three games last weekend and they have won three of their last four. Jeremy Begora leads YHC in hits, homerun's, RBI's, OPS, and batting average and has 10 hits in his last six games. 

Friday night is shaping up to be a pitchers duel as Nate Lamb will take the mound for Young Harris and they haven't lost a game where he has started on the bump this season. Lamb is fifth in the conference with a 2.28 ERA and he is also fifth with 51 strikeouts on the season.

 Columbus State will go the battle with the Mountain Lions on Friday, March 31 at Zell B. Miller Field. First pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
