Columbus State to host Shorter in midweek matchup

CSU is 5-0 against the Hawks all-time.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University baseball team is set to host the Shorter Hawks on Tuesday, April 18 at Ragsdale Field. CSU currently has a five game win streak against the Hawks and is 27-12 on the season and 14-10 in the PBC. Shorter is 22-17 and 14-12 inside the Gulf South Conference.

For the Cougars, they are coming off a series win against Augusta University and are on a two game win streak. This is the Cougars first midweek game since March 22. Matthew McDade has 49 RBI's on the season which is the most in any year of his Cougar career and he is second in the Peach Belt Conference in RBI's. As a team, CSU is batting .296 on the season and they have 50 home run's and 261 RBI's. 

Columbus State is first in the Peach Belt in team era at 3.78 and they have given up the least amount of hits to opposing teams in the conference. The Cougars currently have 10 pitchers with over 10 innings pitched on the season and they have struck out a combined 276 batters on the year.

For the Hawks, they won their series over the weekend against West Georgia two games to one. They have won seven of their last eight games and have averaged nine runs a game during that span. Kobe Miller leads Shorter with a .390 batting average with six homers and 37 RBI's. Tanner Folds has been dominant on the bump for the Hawks as he has 69.1 innings pitched on the year with five complete games. He also has an era of 2.99 with 44 strike outs and only 24 walks.

Columbus State will welcome in the Hawks on Tuesday, April 18 at Burger King Stadium. First pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
