No. 4 Women’s Soccer Hosts Albany State on Saturday

Lady Cougars return to play on Saturday afternoon, hosting Albany State for PBC play

COLUMBUS – Peach Belt Conference action resumes on Saturday for the No. 4-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team with a home contest against Albany State (Ga.) at 2 p.m. ET at the Walden Soccer Complex.
 
The Lady Cougars (6-0-1, 1-0-0 PBC) welcome the Golden Rams (1-7-0, 0-2-0 PBC) to the Walden Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon, after coming off a 2-2 draw at No. 11 Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.).
 
Columbus State returns to play after Hurricane Helene washed the conference road trip to Lander (S.C.) which is now rescheduled for Oct. 30. As for Albany State, they are coming off a 5-0 loss to Edward Waters (Fla.) on Wednesday. CSU is 4-0 against ASU and last defeated the Golden Rams 13-0 in Albany, Ga. last season.
 
Offensively, Albany State is led by Jordyn Keene who has totaled four of the team's seven goals this season while Taniya Averett has netted a pair and Gabby Toney scoring one as well. The Golden Rams average just seven shots per contest and have produced a 58.9% (33-of-56) shot on goal percentage.
 
Ava Droze leads the efforts in goal, recording over 500 minutes of action and notching 48 saves this season. Daphne Estrada has tallied 200+ minutes in between the sticks and has totaled 18 saves for the Golden Rams.
 
Columbus State will be a handful for Albany State on Saturday as the Lady Cougars have outscored opponents 34-4 this season with an average of nearly five goals a game. The CSU attack has suffocated opponents by pouring on a total of 164 shots for an average of 23.4 shots per contest with a 56.7% (83-of-164) shot on goal percentage.
 
A total of eight Lady Cougars have scored three or more goals this season with Vanessa Aviles leading the way with four goals while also assisting one. Emma Beddow leads with 11 points, scoring three goals and assisting a team-best five while Aviles has tallied nine total points.
 
The Columbus State defense has also done a fantastic job keeping opponents to just four goals in seven matches. CSU has also given away just 18 shots on goal and allows an average of eight shots per contest. Heidi Harris remains the first-choice goalkeeper for the Lady Cougars, recording over 560 minutes this season, notching 13 saves with just three goals against.
 
The Lady Cougars will kick-off against the Golden Rams at 2 p.m. ET from the Walden Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.
