Box Score TALLADEGA, Ala. - The Columbus State University baseball team lost to Talladega College on Tuesday afternoon on the road 9-10 and falls to 27-17 overall.
The Tornadoes took a 4-0 lead in the first inning off of four hits, but the Cougars minimized TC's lead in the third scoring three runs thanks to a bases clearing triple from
Luke Hasty. However, Talladega tallied three more runs in the next half inning to take a 7-3 lead.
In the sixth, the Tornadoes extended it's lead to 10-3 off of four hits and one error. CSU began to make a comeback in the seventh, scoring three runs.
Cody Ferguson hit a solo home run,
Colby Brabston tripled to right center to score
Derek Wylie and
Win Johns reached first base on an error, scoring Brabston.
The Cougars put the Tornadoes on their toes in the eighth, coming within one run. Wylie drove home Ferguson and
Ian King with a single to center field and Brabston sent Wylie home hitting a double to center. CSU couldn't find a way to plate any more runs in the eighth or ninth.
Brabston led the Cougars with three hits and two RBI, Wylie collected two RBI and Hasty recorded three RBI.
Avery Campbell received the loss on the mound after 1.0 innings, giving up six hits and four runs.
