SALISBURY, N.C. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced the 2024 All-Southeast Region Teams and Major Awards on Wednesday afternoon and Columbus State University's
Derek Wylie and
Leo Giannoni were named to the Second Team.
Derek Wylie - OF
A senior from Warner Robins, Ga., Wylie led the Cougars in multiple offensive categories: OPS (1.161), doubles (13), home runs (18), RBI (59), slugging (.697) and walks (36). Wylie also ranked within the top-10 in the Peach Belt Conference in batting average (.368), slugging, on base percentage (.466), OPS, hits (78), RBI, home runs and walks. In the outfield, he recorded 111 catches, 104 put outs, three assists and four errors to total a .964 fielding percentage as CSU's right fielder.
This is Wylie's second NCBWA All-Region First Team award and fourth all-region honor of his career. He was also tabbed to the All-PBC First Team, his third honor from the conference in his career.
Leo Giannoni - RP
A Marietta, Ga., native, Giannoni posted a 2.45 ERA in relief for Columbus State, pitching 51.1 innings. The junior recorded a 7-1 record and three saves in 23 appearances. Giannoni tallied 59 strikeouts, a 1.09 WHIP and had a .180 opposing batting average. The right-hander ranked in the top-10 in the conference in wins and batters struck out.
This is Giannoni's first all-region award of his career and he was also honored on the All-PBC First Team in 2024.
