HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Columbus State University women's golf traveled to Hilton Head Island, S.C. for the Battle at Hilton Head earlier this week.
The Lady Cougars competed in the two-day, three-round tournament hosted at the par-72, 5,934-yard Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes Golf Club.
First Round
Columbus State opened with a team score of 333 (+45) to land tied for 10th after the opening round of play on Monday. Lexis Fickel led with an 80 (+8) while Samantha Dewendt Morales carded an opening 83 (+11) followed by a score of 85 (+13) from Sydney Himes.
Andrea Peraza also carded an 85 (+13) after the first 18 and was followed by Laura DeLaubert with a 90 (+18)
Second Round
The Lady Cougars remained in the 10th position after the second round, scoring a team total of 325 (+37). Himes led the way with a 76 (+4), carding three birdies. Dewendt Morales improved with a six-over 78 while Fickel marked an 81 (+9).
Peraza and DeLaubert rounded out the second 18 holes with scores of 90 (+18) and 93 (+21), respectively.
Third Round
CSU finished up the tournament with a final round score of 316 (+28) to finish 10th out of 14 teams, with a three-round score of 974 (+110).
Fickel shifted up to 23rd individually with a final round 75 (+3) while Himes finished in 32nd with a 77 (+5) on Tuesday. Dewendt Morales carded a nine-over 81 for 39th while DeLaubert and Peraza both tied for 68th, scoring final rounds of 83 (+11) and 91 (+19), respectively.
