VALDOSTA, GA. – The 42nd-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team remained perfect on the season with a 4-0 shutout of Valdosta State University on Wednesday from the VSU Tennis Complex. Valdosta State is the two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champions.

Columbus State won two doubles contests to earn an early point in the match.

The No. 1 duo of seniors Elias Peter and Andrea Sandrone opened doubles play with a 6-2 victory in the top spot.

After the Blazers won a match at No. 3, senior Thomas Cardona and junior Samer Al Tori teamed together for a 6-4 win at No. 2 to give CSU the early advantage.

In singles play, the Cougars opened with three straight wins to seal the road victory.

Sophomore Hugo Didier earned the first singles point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2, followed by a 6-4, 7-5 triumph from senior Daniel Hammond in the sixth flight.

Sandrone finished off the match with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 decision in the No. 5 singles match.

The Cougars stay on the road as they travel to Belmont, N.C. on Saturday, March, for a match against #23 Belmont Abbey College. Saturday's contest begins a string of three matches in three days against Top 40 opponents.
