Fifth-Ranked Cougars Upset by No. 17 West Alabama

COLUMBUS, GA. – The 5th-ranked Columbus State men's tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of No. 17 University of West Alabama on Monday afternoon from the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

Columbus State is now 9-2 overall, while the Tigers improve to 9-4 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Alabama opened with a win at No. 3 doubles before the CSU senior duo of Elias Peter and Andrea Sandrone tallied a 7-5 win at No. 1. UWA responded with a 7-5 win of its own at No. 2 to gain the early 1-0 match lead.
  • Singles play saw the Tigers collect wins at Nos. 3, 4, and 5 to seal the match decision.
  • (68) Sandrone won his singles contest at No. 6, registering a 7-6, 6-3 victory, his eighth of the season.
