Didier Earns Columbus State's Fourth PBC Player of the Week Nod

AUGUSTA, GA. – Columbus State sophomore Hugo Didier has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after guiding the 6th-ranked Cougars to a 7-0 win over No. 34 University of Nebraska at Kearney on Saturday.

The weekly honor is the first of Didier's young college career. The Cougars have now won PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week accolades four times this season, with senior Thomas Cardona gaining recognition on two separate occasions and junior Samer Al Tori claiming the award a week ago.

Didier began the match against UNK with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 doubles contest with teammate Benedek Szombathelyi before claiming a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Andy Brisdon, the 52nd-ranked singles player in the country.

On the season, Didier is 2-0 in doubles play, but much of his success has come in singles, where his 6-1 overall record has him currently ranked No. 44 in the ITA Singles Rankings.

Columbus State travels to Augusta, Ga., next Friday for the team's first Peach Belt Conference match of the season against Augusta University at 2:00 p.m.
