ANDERSON, S.C. – The 17th-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team remained perfect to start the 2026 season with a 7-0 victory over Anderson University (S.C.) on Friday afternoon from the AU Tennis Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State won two of three doubles contests to build an early team lead.
- The senior duo of Andrea Sandrone and Elias Peter won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while fellow seniors Daniel Hammond and Benedek Szombathelyi won 7-5 at No. 3.
- The Cougars swept all six singles matchups as sophomore Hugo Didier was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 2, Hammond won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6, and Sandrone was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in the fifth position.
- Peter (4-6, 7-5, 6-4), fellow senior Thomas Cardona (6-4, 6-7, 6-3), and junior Samer Al Tori (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) all won their respective matches in three sets.
