DESTIN, Fla. — The Columbus State University Women's Golf team sits tied for ninth place after the opening round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri–St. Louis at Sandestin Resort & Club in Destin, Florida. The Cougars posted a team score of 20-over par following the first day of competition in the three-day event.
Anna Holley paced Columbus State in the opening round, finishing tied for 17th overall at 2-over par (73). Holley carded rounds of 36 and 37, delivering consistent play across both nines to lead the Cougars on day one.
Mia Arroyo followed closely behind, finishing the round tied for 26th at 3-over par (74). Arroyo rebounded with a strong 1-under 35 on the back nine after posting a 39 on the front side.
The Cougars' team scoring was rounded out by
Peyton Maraman,
Sydney Himes, and Samantha Dewendt. Maraman finished the day tied for 48th at 7-over (78), while Himes placed 57th at 8-over (79). Dewendt completed the scoring lineup with a 65th-place finish at 9-over (80).
Competing as individuals,
Kennedee Pearson turned in a strong performance, finishing tied for 32nd at 4-over par (75), while
Andrea Peraza concluded the opening round 86th at 15-over (86).
The Emerald Coast Collegiate continues Monday with the second round, as the Lady Cougars look to climb the leaderboard heading into the final day of competition Tuesday.
