MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. – The fifth-ranked Columbus State men's tennis team rolled to its seventh straight win with a 6-1 road victory over fellow Peach Belt Conference member Georgia College on Friday afternoon.
Columbus State is now 16-2 overall with a perfect 5-0 record in PBC play, while Georgia College falls to 4-11 on the year with an 0-5 conference mark..
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles play opened with a 6-0 win at No. 3 from the senior duo of Daniel Hammond and Benedek Szombathelyi, followed by a 6-2 win on court one from seniors (22) Elias Peter and Andrea Sandrone.
- With a point already on the board, Sandrone tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4, and junior Samer Al Tori won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 to put CSU up by three points.
- Szombathelyi was a 6-3, 6-2 winner on court six, and sophomore (30) Hugo Didier won 7-6, 4-2 on court two after his opponent was forced to retire early.
- Senior (21) Thomas Cardona finished off the day with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 triumph in the top flight over the 44th-ranked singles player.

Columbus State concludes its regular season on Sunday afternoon with a home match against No. 22 Lander University. With a win, the Cougars will clinch the outright PBC Regular Season Title.
