ROME, Ga. – The reigning national champion Columbus State University men's tennis program claimed two more titles on Saturday, sweeping the ITA Cup singles and doubles championships. The ITA Cup was played at the Rome Tennis Center.

For the second straight year,
KP Pannu claimed the ITA Cup Division II singles national championship, sending him to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships beginning Nov. 5 in Surprise, Ariz.

Pannu was dominant on Saturday, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Pierre Montrieul of Barry.

Zach Whaanga and
Alvaro Regalado made it a Cougar sweep with a win in the ITA Cup doubles final. The Cougars defeated Filip Kesina and Jakob Schnaitter of Azusa Pacific 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 for the fall title.

The win moved the duo into a doubles championship bracket, featuring the winners from the Division II, III, NAIA and JUCO divisions. Whaanga and Regalado won their first match in the championship bracket over Jonathan Jemison and Adrien Bouchet of Emory 6-4, 7-6.

They will take on Valentino Caratini and Ayed Zatar of Georgia Gwinnett at 10 a.m. on Sunday for a chance to join Pannu next month in Surprise.

Beatriz Lopez and
Marleen Tilgner came up one victory shy of a title, as the pair fell 6-1, 6-2 against Zuza Maciejewska and Verena Schmid of Barry in Saturday's championship match.
