COLUMBUS, Ga. - Director of Golf,
Mark Immelman, was announced today as a coach for the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup. Scott Limbaugh of Vanderbilt and Mic Potter of Alabama will coach the United States while Immelman and Jan Dowling of Michigan will head up the International side. The matches will be played June 7-9 and will be hosted at the Alotian Club, one of America's premier golf clubs. This is the first time it will be played in the United States since expanding to include men's and women's USA collegiate golfers taking on their opponents from around the world.
"It is a spectacular honor to be selected as the International Team Captain for the upcoming Palmer Cup matches", said Immelman. "Arnold Palmer has always been a hero of mine and to be involved in a tournament that bears his name is one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my career."
Success has been constant with Immelman at the helm of his Cougar golfers. Immelman has won numerous awards in his stint at CSU including being named the 2009 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year and the 2007 Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year. He has coached 10 All-Americans, 26 All-PBC players and the 2007 PBC Golfer of the Year (Andrew Georgiou). Before taking on the role as coach, Immelman played four seasons as a Cougar, becoming a three-time All-American and helped his team win multiple national championships. In 2017, Immelman was inducted into the Columbus State Athletic Hall of Fame.Â

Mark Immelman Golf Instruction working with a plethora of professionals including Trevor Immelman (younger brother, 2008 Masters Champion), Larry Mize (1998 Masters Champion), Louis Oosthuizen (2010 British Open Champion) and many other PGA, European, Nationwide and Africa's Sunshine tours professionals. He also conducts play-by-play on broadcasts for the PGA Tour on Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio and works with CBS Sports as an on-course reporter and studio analyst.
Beginning in 1997, The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America. It began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla featuring the top men and women university/college golfers with a team of United States players competing against a team of International players. Over 100 players from the Arnold Palmer Cup have gone on to earn cards at the PGA Tour, European Tour, or LPGAÂ with over 50 having claimed 200 victories on the PGA or European Tours. 28 cup players have represented Europe or the United States in the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup. The series is currently led by the United States with a record of 12-9-1.
