ROME, Ga. – It was a third consecutive 9-0 victory for the fourth-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team, as the Cougars downed Shorter on Thursday. The nonconference match was played in Rome, Ga.

Columbus State (15-3) has now picked up 10 of its 15 victories by a 9-0 margin.

CSU had things on cruise control from the get-go on Thursday, dropping just six games in three doubles wins.
Zach Whaanga and
Alvaro Regalado won their seventh straight match with an 8-1 victory at first doubles.

KP Pannu and
Matei Avram won 8-2 at second doubles and
Jorge Vargas and
Shao-Yu Yu made it a doubles sweep with an 8-3 win.

Singles play saw even more Cougar dominance. Pannu registered his fifth ranked victory of the year with a 6-0, 6-2 win over the No. 40 player in the country. Whaanga cruised at second singles 6-3, 6-1, with Regalado taking down his opponent 6-1, 6-0.

Paul Sprengelmeijer added a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles before the Cougars turned in 6-0, 6-0 victories from
Arnold Kokulewski and Yu at fifth and sixth, respectively.

Columbus State is back at home on Saturday for a Peach Belt Conference match against No. 25 Georgia College. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
