ROME, Ga. - Columbus State University men's tennis player Alvaro Regalado came up just shy of capturing the Division II ITA Cup singles national championship on Sunday. The ITA Cup was held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
Only the second player in Columbus State history to reach the singles championship match, the junior fell 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 to second-seeded Alejandro Ibanez Gallego of Barry.
"Hats off to Alvaro," commented head coach Evan Isaacs. "He played his tail off, and we are super proud of his and everyone's accomplishments this week."
Regalado also played in the Division II doubles championship on Saturday with his doubles partner Matei Avram.
