CRANS MONTANA, Switzerland - Competing against some of the top professional golfers in the world, Columbus State University sophomore
Ronan Kleu shot a two-over 142 over the first two rounds of the prestigious Omega European Masters. The tournament is being held at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland.
The Omega European Masters is an event on the European Tour with roots dating back to 1923. Some major names in this year's event include Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Sergio Garcia among others. In all, 19 of the world's top-100 players are in the field.
Kleu was impressive over Thursday and Friday. After a two-over 72 in the first round, the sophomore climbed 13 spots on the leaderboard Friday by carding an even-par 70.
The Cougar was the second-highest finisher among amateurs in the event missing the cut by just three strokes.

Mark Immelman. "Earning an invitation into one of The European Tour's foremost events is a real honor and Ronan was thoroughly deserving. He got to show off his skills and I am certain he proved to himself he has the game to compete at the highest level."
Last season, Kleu competed in 10 events for Columbus State ending the year with a 74.3 stroke average.

st-ranked Cougars are prepping for the 2019-20 season which begins on Sept. 16 with the Kiawah Island Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C.
