CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Six members of the Columbus State tennis teams participated in the first day of the ITA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Belmont Abbey College.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars picked up 10 wins in 11 singles and doubles matches on Thursday.
It could be an all-Cougar doubles championship as the teams of Alvaro Regalado and Tommaso Schold and Christian Garay and Liam Wickwire have a chance to meet in the finals. Both pairs won two matches on the opening day. On the women's side, Beatriz Lopez and Sara Ramirez Goncalves also knocked off two opponents to secure their spot in the semifinal round.
In early singles action, five players won their opening round match to advance.
The action will resume at 8 a.m. on Friday morning.
