LAKE NONA, Fla. - After a thrilling victory to reach the quarterfinal round of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship, Columbus State University junior tennis player Alvaro Regalado fell in a three-set decision to Michael Zheng. The premier tournament is taking place at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla.

Representing Columbus State as one of the top-32 amateur tennis players in the nation, Regalado dropped the match 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to the hard-hitting Zheng.

"Nothing can take away from Alvaro's performance over the week," stated Cougar head coach Evan Isaacs. "I know this will  motive him more and push him to become a better player."

"I can't wait for the spring to get on the court with the full team."

The Alicante, Spain native found himself in an early hole on Friday night after losing the first set and getting behind 4-1 in set two. However, Regalado found his groove, winning the next four games to pull ahead. After Zheng tied it at five, Regalado finished off the set to force the decisive third frame.

Zheng was finally able to close out the match after the two battled for over two hours.
