NORMAN, Okla. - After leading the Columbus State University men's golf team to a fourth-place finish in the final Division II Golf Stat rankings,
Mark Immelman was named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award present by Golf Pride Grips.
The Williams Award honors the national coach of the Year at the NCAA Division II level and is overseen by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Joining Immelman as finalists are Luke Calcaterra of Arkansas Tech, Darcy Donaldson of Georgia Southwestern, David Lynn of Oklahoma Christian, and Jimmy Stobs of Barry.
The Cougars were in the middle of an outstanding season in 2019-20 when play was suspended. In seven events, CSU finished inside the top-five in six, including taking home the team title at the Matlock Collegiate Classic in February.
In the spring season, the Cougars finished no worse than third in three events.
Immelman is in his 19th season at Columbus State and is the Director of Golf overseeing the operations of both the men's and women's programs. He was named the 2009 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year and has produced 14 All-Americans, including
Jordan Doull and Ronan Klue in 2019-2020. Immelman also served as a coach for Team International at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup leading the team to victory.
