The Cougars and the University of Indianapolis will now play for the ITA National Indoor Championship at 6:45 p.m. eastern time on Sunday, Feb. 28. The time change came late Saturday night to avoid a time conflict for Indianapolis. UIndy's women's team is also to schedule to play at 3:30 p.m. in the women's portion of the tournament.Â

OKLAHOMA CITY - The top-ranked and top-seeded Columbus State University men's tennis team will have a chance to defend its title at the ITA National Indoor Championship following a 4-0 win over No. 7 and fourth-seeded Drury University on Saturday. The tournament is taking place at the OKC Tennis Center.
The Cougars (4-0) continued their dominance in OKC with their fifth straight 4-0 decision at the prestigious event. CSU will play No. 10 and sixth-seeded University of Indianapolis in the championship on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. Indianapolis swept No. 3 West Florida 4-0 to earn a spot in the finals.Â
"This was another clean match against a very competitive team," added head coach
Evan Isaacs. "We can't take anything for granted and have to close out this run tomorrow with a win"
Only two doubles matches needed to be finished as the Cougars won at the first and third spots. The tandems of
Alvaro Regalado and
Javier Cueto Ramos and
Pietro Martinetti and
Tommaso Schold were both 6-2 winners. Regalado and Cueto Ramos had no problem with Nico Hadeler and Marlon Wilken at first doubles, while Martinetti and Schold defeated Isaac Ogilvy and Lukas Stierling at third doubles.
Second doubles was tied at four games apiece as
Christian Garay and
Felix Steen were battling Augusin Diot and Sylvain Garin-Michaud.Â
The bottom of the Cougar singles lineup finished off Drury. Cueto Ramos was the most impressive, taking fourth singles 6-1, 6-2 over Wilken. Steen won the first set 6-4 at fifth singles before blanking Arthur Sarlet 6-0 in the second to record the win. Martinetti was a 6-3, 6-1 straight-set winner at the sixth spot over Ogilvy.Â
Columbus State was up a set in the three unfinished matches. Garay was a game away from victory at second singles, while Regalado was leading 6-3, 4-2 when play was called. At third singles, Schold took a tight first set 7-6 and ahead 4-1 in the second.
Saturday's win was the 13th in a row for the Cougars and the 20th straight regular-season victory dating back to 2019.
