Doull Claims Championship, Cougars Second at Southeastern Collegiate

It's the third individual title for the senior.

VALDOSTA, Ga. - For the third time in his career, Columbus State University men's golfer Jordan Doull finished atop the leaderboard as the senior grabbed medalist honors at the 2022 Southeastern Collegiate after firing a 1-under 71 to conclude play on Tuesday.

The senior turned in a 6-under 210 over the three rounds leading the 21st-ranked Cougars to a second-place team finish. Overall, CSU (2-under 862) finished just one shot back from tournament winners and fourth-ranked Lincoln Memorial University.

The Cougars bested nine teams ahead of them in the lastest Golfstat rankings.

Ending the day in second, Doull immediately went to work, birding his first hole of the day. After a bogey on the par-4 third, the All-American bore down, playing the rest of the back nine at 3-under, including finding three straight birdies as he made the turn. He went to 4-under with a birdie on the 12th, before turning in his 1-under 71 to claim a one-stroke victory over Jonty Marshall of the University of Tampa.

Martin Gruendemann joined his teammate in the red on Tuesday and inside the top-10 overall following an impressive round. Gruendemann matched Doull's 1-under 71 in round three to end the event with a 2-under 214 and tied for sixth. The sophomore only had one blemish on his scorecard while picking up two birdies over the day.

Columbus State made it three players inside the top-15 as Arran Kanth finished tied for 14th. Kanth ended the day where he began, at even-par, as the sophomore shot a 72 on Tuesday. Like Gruendemann, Kanth was a 1-under making the turn and collected another birdie on the par-5 11th. Overall, Kanth had a 3-round score of 216.

Preston Wagaman was CSU's final team scorer on Tuesday with a 5-over 77. Wagaman had four birdies, the second-most by a Cougar in round three, to end with a 7-over 223 for the event. He finished tied for 44th on the leaderboard.

Eric Wowor wrapped up play in the Southeastern Collegiate in a 66th-place tie with a 12-over 228. On Tuesday, Wowor turned in an 8-over 80.
