ST. SIMONS, Ga. - Columbus State University men's golfer
Jordan Doull made Peach Belt Conference history on Thursday, becoming the first-ever five-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection as the league announced the annual awards on the eve of the championship.
Doull was selected to the five-member All-PBC team first team for the third time in his career after finishing the regular season with a 71.7 stroke average, the fourth-best mark in the league.
The Perth, Australia native has led Columbus State throughout the season, collecting four top-10 finishes and three top-five performances in 12 events. The senior won his third career event at the Southeastern Collegiate in March, firing a 6-under 210 to claim the title. Doull followed the win with a fourth-place finish at the Bobcat Invitational a week later with an even-par 210.
Doull enters the PBC Championship ranked 16th in DII according to Golfstat's individual rankings.
Leo Johansson of USC Aiken was named the PBC Golfer of the Year, while Laurens Schulze-Doering of Young Harris College earned the Freshman of the Year award. Bryson Wroley of the University of North Georgia was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.
Columbus State enters the 30th PBC Championship looking to claim the program's seventh title and the first since 2016. However, it won't be an easy task as six teams in the field are ranking the latest Golfstat top-25 rankings. The Cougars are 19th in the rankings, but USC Aiken (6th), North Georgia (8th), Georgia Southwestern University (10th) and Lander University (11th) are ahead of CSU and are looking to hoslt the trophy on Sunday. Twenty-four players are aslo ranked inside the Golfstat top-100.
The PBC Championship is a 54-hole event, with the golfers playing 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Sea Plams Resort in St. Simons, Ga. Nine teams will be in the field, with Young Harris being the defending champions.
