ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Columbus State University men's golf team placed fifth out of 17 teams. The Cougars shot a sub-300 score in the first and second round.
TEAM RESULTS:
Columbus State played some excellent golf today as the Cougars fired a score of 294 in the first round and 288 total strokes the second round. CSU was able to fight off Newberry and North Georgia by two strokes to claim soul possession of fifth place. The Cougars are two strokes off of fourth place Georgia Southwestern and four strokes off Belmont Abbey who holds the third spot.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
Martin Gruendemann led the Cougars and shot one under par for the day and found himself tied for eighth place in individuals. Gruendemann fired the best round of the day for CSU in round one when he shot a 70.
Bernard Meyer turned in a solid day as he was one over with a 73 in the first round and a 72 in the second. Meyer is currently tied for 17th with five other golfers.
