VALDOSTA, Ga. — The Columbus State University Men's Golf team sits in second place after the opening day of the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club on Monday. The Cougars fired a combined score of 21-under par through two rounds and trail only Lincoln Memorial after day one of the event.
Columbus State was led by
Ian Pienaar, who turned in one of the strongest performances of the day. The sophomore finished the opening rounds tied for second overall at 12-under par, carding rounds of 69 (-3) and 63 (-9) to place himself firmly in contention heading into the final round.
William Partner also delivered an impressive showing for the Cougars, finishing the day tied for fourth place at 6-under par. Partner recorded rounds of 72 (E) and 66 (-6), providing valuable scoring depth for Columbus State in the team standings.
Bernard Meyer added another solid performance, finishing tied for 13th overall at 4-under par after posting rounds of 71 (-1) and 69 (-3).
Rounding out the Columbus State lineup were
William Greene and
Bryant Vail. Greene finished tied for 41st at 1-over par, while Vail concluded the day tied for 67th at 5-over par.
Lincoln Memorial holds the individual lead following a standout performance by Harry Dickins, who leads the field at 13-under par through two rounds.
The First Federal Southeastern Collegiate continues Tuesday with the final round at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. The Cougars will look to climb the leaderboard and contend for the team title.
