ALBANY, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's golf team finished in fourth out of 17 teams on Monday, Feb. 27. The Cougars were very efficient as they shot two sub-290 rounds to end the day one under par.
TEAM RESULTS:
The CSU men played some of their best golf of the season as the Cougars shot a score of 288 for the first round. Columbus State was able to improve their score by one stroke as they finished with 287 total strokes in the second round. The competitive field has the Cougars one stroke ahead of Clayton State and two strokes ahead of Tampa. They are in the thick of it as they are one stroke away from third place Carson-Newman and CSU is six strokes from the first place North Georgia Nighthawks.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
All five golfers for Columbus State are sub-150 through the first two rounds.
Bernard Meyer is at the top of the leader boards for both CSU and the field as a whole as he is one stroke out of first place. He is currently in a tie for second as he fired a 72 on the first round and a 68 on the second.
Martin Gruendemann is also playing excellent golf as he is currently tied for 15th with a total score of 143.Â
